Taiwanese superstars Gwei Lun-mei and Yo Yang star in the directorial debut of award-winning screenwriter Chang Yao-sheng (A SUN). Gwei and Yang play a couple, who initially meet and fall in love for their mutual obsession with ballroom dancing. Sadly, Yang's character dies in surgery from complications caused by a leg amputation. The film takes a left turn from the expected melodrama as Gwei's character must soon navigate hospital bureaucracy in search for "the leg" to keep her late husband's body intact. As the surreal night unfolds, their past love and regrets also rise to the surface.
A LEG brilliantly plays with time in the evolution of this romance--from Gwei's AFTER HOURS-esque journey in search of her late husband's leg, to flashbacks of their initial romance in a RASHOMON unfolding of said romance, in all its bittersweet and raw phases. With a score composed by award winning Lu Luming (DETENTION Golden Horse Awards winner last year), and beautiful and sultry dance sequences beautifully performed by the two leads, this film continues the current streak of amazingly unique Taiwanese cinema.
