This documentary revolves around three hālau hula (school of hula) as they prepare for their huakaʻi (journey) to the Merrie Monarch Festival, an annual cultural festival that has long been considered as the Olympics of hula. As we missed this year’s festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this film encapsulates what we hope to look forward to once more in the future. This will truly be a bittersweet viewing experience for many of us here.
